Gifted Hands by BenCarson, M.D., with Cecil Murphey
Zondervan Publishing House

Separating conjoined twins, pioneering radical brain surgery to stop intractable seizures, and speaking at the 1997 President's National Prayer Breakfast are among the accomplishments of Dr. Ben Carson. But his life wasn't always so prestigious. Raised in inner-city Detroit by a mother with a third-grade education, young Ben lacked motivation. He had terrible grades and a pathological temper that led him to almost kill his friend over a trivial matter. With God's help and his mother's determination, Ben turned his life around. He renewed his faith – and improved his grades, earning scholarships to college and medical school. Today he is director of pediatric neurosurgery at The Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions in Baltimore, MD.

Gifted Hands is the captivating story of one man's secret for success, tested by unbelievable odds and driven by a mind-set that dares to take calculated risks. This inspirational autobiography takes readers into the operating room to witness life-saving surgery that made news around the world – and into the private mind of a compassionate, God-fearing physician who lives to help others. This remarkable man's humility, quick wit, and down-to-earth style shines through and makes his life story a book that readers won't easily forget.

THINK BIG by Ben Carson, M.D., with Cecil Murphey
Zondervan Publishing House

Dr. Ben Carson prescribes his personal formula for success in his second book, THINK BIG. Spelling out his philosophy for living, this world-renowned pediatric neurosurgeon shares how his acrostic can work to improve anyone's life. T is for recognizing talent/time as gifts from God; H is for hope and honesty; I is for insight from people and good books; N is for being nice to all people; K is for recognizing knowledge as the key to living; B is for reading books; I is for developing in-depth learning skills; and G is for God, never getting too big for Him.

The Big Picture by Ben Carson, M.D., with Greg Lewis
Zondervan Publishing House

The Big Picture offers and up-close look at a professional surgeon's life – and his unique perspective on priorities, race, society, success, and living out a life of faith in a complex world. Dr. Ben Carson reveals the spiritual and philosophical foundations that undergird not just his dramatic career, but his approach to all of life. He allows readers to see through hardship and failure, and he discusses his views on parenting, family, and business. Finally, Dr. Carson shares his ideas on seeing the Big Picture in society, including health care, education, and racial diversity. His hope is to inspire others to turn the course of their lives, their community, and the world around with his unique philosophy.

CIGARETTE AND IT'S EFFECT

A cigarette is a product consumed via smoking and manufactured out of cured and finely cut tobacco leaves, which are combined with other additives, then rolled or stuffed into a paper-wrapped cylinder (generally less than 120 mm in length and 10 mm in diameter). The cigarette is ignited at one end and allowed to smoulder for the purpose of inhalation of its smoke from the other (usually filtered) end, which is usually inserted in the mouth. They are sometimes smoked with a cigarette holder. The term cigarette, as commonly used, refers to a tobacco cigarette but can apply to similar devices containing other herbs, such as cannabis. They are colloquially known as "cigs", "ciggies", "smokes", "cancer sticks", "death sticks", "coffin nails", "squares", and "fags".

Cigarettes are proven to be highly addictive, as well as a cause of multiple types of cancer, heart disease, respiratory disease, circulatory disease and birth defects.[1][2]

A cigarette is distinguished from a cigar by its smaller size, use of processed leaf, and white paper wrapping. Cigars are typically composed entirely of whole leaf tobacco.

Acute and chronic effects of cigarette smoking on exhaled nitric oxide

Cigarette smoking is associated with an increased risk of respiratory tract infections, chronic airway disease, and cardiovascular diseases, all of which may be modulated by endogenous nitric oxide (NO). We have investigated whether cigarette smoking reduces the production of endogenous NO. We compared exhalations of 41 current cigarette smokers with normal lung function and 73 age-matched non-smoking controls. Peak exhaled NO levels were measured by a modified chemiluminescence analyzer. The effects of inhaling a single cigarette in smokers were also measured. In control subjects we also measured the effects of inhalation of NO itself and carbon monoxide, both constituents of tobacco smoke. Peak exhaled NO concentrations were significantly reduced in smokers (42 +/- 3.9 compared with 88 +/- 2.7 parts per billion in nonsmokers, p < 0.01), with a significant relation between the exhaled NO and cigarette consumption (r = 0.77, p < 0.001). Smoking a single cigarette also significantly (p < 0.02), but transiently, reduced exhaled NO. Inhalation of carbon monoxide and NO had no effect on exhaled NO in normal subjects. Cigarette smoking decreased exhaled NO, suggesting that it may inhibit the enzyme NO synthase. Since endogenous NO is important in defending the respiratory tract against infection, in counteracting bronchoconstriction and vasoconstriction, and in inhibiting platelet aggregation, this effect may contribute to the increased risks of chronic respiratory and cardiovascular disease in cigarette smokers.

INSTRUMENT FOR CREATIVITY-"WISDOM"

CREATE:
*The word "create" means to bring to existance, to cause to be
*God never had a throne until he created one, "Heaven is the throne of God and Earth is the   footstool of God (Isaiah 66:1-2)
*Creation is by wisdom
*Wisdom is God instrument for creating all things. It is the force behind creation.
*It does not matter how shapeless your life is. It does not matter how empty it is, you can make it   full. We came to this word to give shape to it.

*WHAT IS WISDOM?
*Wisdom is knowing which way to go. It is knowing how to handle situation and make them   produce your result. Wisdom is knowing the way to make it in life.

TWO TYPES OF WISDOM
1)  Earthly Wisdom:The earthly wisdom is the wisdom of men. the wisdom of men is wicked      and devilish. It pulls down rather than rising men. Any one who rises to a certain level on      earthly wisdom is full of strife, envy, jeolosy and confusion. It has no future for anyone who      operate it.

2)   Heavenly Wisdom:This is the wisdom of God which is void of confusion and guarantees        escape from evil, it is pure, it is light and sustenance of that lifting. It is from above and        whatever is from above is above all. It comes from God.

* You are not created to follow the ordinary ways. you are created to live an extra-ordinary life    through active use of heavenly wisdom on earth.
* You are to give taste to the tatstless system. You are the light that shines in darkness. Shine    forth and cause praise to rise unto God.
* Whatever you are born for, you are build with.
* Change your position and change you destiny.
*You have a rich deposit on the inside of you.use what you have to get what you want.the ability    to do this, is wisdom.
* Whatever you admair in life, desire it, and whatever you desire in life, require it and whatever    you require in life, aspire for it, don't retire, but re-fire, when you re-fire, then acquire that which you desire, that you admire in life.

HEARING AND LISTENING

In the aspect of studying in the class room hearing is different from listening. You can be in the class while teaching is going on; you might hearing but not listening. some time it is because you are absent minded in the class. You don't understand because you don't listen. some time this absent minded is as a result of you having
a) a family problem
b) having a new lover
c) Financial problem
d) Casting hatred on you teachers/lecturers
e) Prefer playing to learning
If this should be one of your reasons of decline in education let there be an adjustment.
